How to read Supplement Facts

A quick label-reading framework can help you compare products more clearly.

Serving size comes first

Ingredient amounts are listed per serving, not necessarily per gummy. Check how many gummies make one serving and how many servings are in the container. If a serving is two gummies, the amount beside an ingredient generally describes those two gummies together.

Read amount and Daily Value together

The amount shows how much is present per serving, often in milligrams, micrograms, or another unit. Daily Value, when established, gives context for how the amount relates to a reference daily intake. It is not a promise of an effect, and not every botanical or specialty ingredient has an established Daily Value.

Notice blends and extracts

Botanical names may identify the plant part or type of extract used. A blend can list several ingredients under one combined amount, which may not show the amount of every component. Read the wording carefully and compare like with like when evaluating products.

Do not skip other ingredients

Flavoring, sweeteners, colors, oils, coatings, preservatives, and the gummy base usually appear outside the Supplement Facts panel. This area is especially useful when checking dietary preferences or sensitivities. Verify any vegan, sugar-free, non-GMO, or gluten-free statement on the exact label.

Look for directions and storage guidance

Directions explain the labeled serving and frequency. Storage instructions help protect product quality. Keep supplements secured away from children and do not exceed the labeled serving unless a qualified healthcare professional tells you otherwise.

Read warnings in context

A warning may address age, pregnancy or nursing, medications, medical conditions, allergens, or other considerations. Speak with a qualified healthcare professional when these apply. If a product includes green tea, matcha, yerba mate, guayusa, or another possible caffeine source, consider it alongside caffeine from drinks and food.

Compare the label with the product page

The website should help you understand what you are considering, but the physical label is the final source for the product you receive. Packaging and formulations can change. If a website description and label appear different, pause and contact the brand before use.

A 60-second label check

  1. Find the serving size and servings per container.
  2. Scan every active ingredient and amount.
  3. Check Daily Value where one is established.
  4. Read Other Ingredients for the gummy base and additives.
  5. Review directions, warnings, and storage instructions.
